Film Poster Analysis

This is the film poster for the ’Inbetweeners movie.’ The poster shows all four main characters and the background is colourful and bright and is the strip in Malia. The shots of the characters are all mid-shot as you can see them from the upper body up, they are all pulling different facial expressions and the bright background is colourful and shows you that it’s going to be a fun movie because there’s no dark to connote evil. Most people will know these characters because they are in a well-known comedy series on the television. The heading is clear and bright which matches with everything else on the poster and makes it clear to the audience.

This is the film poster for the ‘Friends with Benefits’ movie. This shows the two main characters of the film which makes it clear to the audience, so they know who they’re watching. Their names are above each character which makes this poster very clear to the audience. They are stood next to eachother but there is a line down the middle seperating them, maybe this is a connotation for something during the film.
The female is wearing casual clothing and the male also looks quite causual but is wearing a shirt and tie, but looks messy. The female is smiling and looking at the camera whereas the male is looking over at her. It tells you the release date and there is small print at the bottom. This poster is quite simple but tells a story to the audience. You can tell its a romantic comedy becasue of the male/female and the relaxed/happy facial expressions, it shows they don't take themselves too seriously.

This is the film poster for 'Whats your number?' This poster is quite a simple layout but effective. The background is white making all the other colours stand out more. They have played on the title of the film by making a love heart filled with numbers, hence the film title. The main character is featured on the front and they have made it seem like she is sitting on the heart. This connotes she will be in some kind of love fix during the film. She is holding a notepad and pen and pulling a face which shows there will be some kind of trouble in the narrative. She looks very feminine and is wearing a red dress which denotes love and maybe danger too. Underneath the main image it says the main actor/actress' name, this is for audience recognition. It then has the title of the film in bigger and bolder writing. The font is in black and pink which connotes a male and female theme. You can tell from this poster it will be a romantic comedy. It has underneath all the small print the release date, this is a typical convention for film posters.

This the the film poster for 'The amazing Spiderman' and this is quite a detailed film poster. It is an image of part of New York which is a long shot. Then you have spider man stood there and it is a mid shot of him without his mask on. Even though the picture shows the back of him you can kind of see his face. The sky looks dark and miserable which shows that part of the narrative will be. Most people know that Spiderman is an action movie because it has been around for so many years and started in comic's. It shows the title of the film in bold font next to him, making it clear. There is not a lot of information on this poster though, no actors names or release date which doesn't follow film poster conventions.

This is the film poster for Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part One. Harry Potter is a well known book and movie sequence that many people love. This film poster represents the movie well because the colours of the background is very mysterious and creepy. You then have the three main characters on the front which don't really need much introductions therefore their names aren't on this particular poster. They are mid-shots of all the characters and they all look very scared. They are dressed quite smartly and not in casual clothing or their school uniform. This connots how much they have grown up and that school is coming to and end. There is a catch phrase at the top which leaves tension so that the audience will want to watch the film. They use the typical Harry Potter font so that the audience will recognise straight away.
