Evaluation - Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop, or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Evaluation 1

Still shot analysis

One

This first still shot that I have is a two person shot of the two main characters, Gabby and Scott. This shot follows many typical conventions because they are the two main characters of opposite genders who are in some form of relationship in the film. Facing each other but we have a two person shot so that you can see both of their facial expressions.

Two

This still shot is the second, a shot of Gabby walking away from Scott. This follows the conventions of films that have a couple breaking up in them, where the side of the couple that is angry walks off and then it fades out, this conveys that they have split up which is what the audience needs to understand. We have done this in the shot by making her look isolated and her arms are folded conveying unhappy body language.

Three

This still shot is Gabby sat on the stairs. It is a mid shot and she looks sad because of the situation. Her body language is very tight and closed and this shows the audience her emotions. This a typical conventional shot, for this situation in the film.

Four

This is your typical '2 person shot'. It shows clearly how we want the audience to convey this relationship. They are brothers and therefore have a bond. His brother is on the phone but they are also making conversation this why they are looking at each other and it is a close up so we can see facial expressions.

Five

This still shot is a mid shot and shows Gabby when she is hiding around a wall. It shows the audience all they need to know, that she is sneaking around and we have taken the shot from the side so we can see clearly she is hiding round the wall. This is then clear for the audience.

Evaluation - Question 2
